  • <coverage-outsourcing id='37376'> He was arrested in late December in his family home by five agents of the Ministry of Intelligence. The officers disagreed with Mr. Ramezanzadeh's request to see the court order and only showed him a sheet with the seal of the Ministry of Intelligence on it. According to an Atlas source, the agents confiscated the satellite receiver of their home and after some time the family paid a fine of 5 million Rials for it. When the intelligence agents took him to the detention center, he was blindfolded, and due to Mr. Ramezanzadeh's protest against their illegal behavior, he was assaulted by the intelligence agent. During the first days of detention, he was denied the right to contact his family, and after the hunger strike, which lasted for about a week, he made a telephone call to his family for the first time and ended his hunger strike at the same time. In this call, he was only allowed to say that he was being held in Evin prison. Reza Ramezanzadeh was kept in the 2-A Detention Center for the first three days, and then he was transferred to the solitary cell of ward 209, the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Center in Evin Prison. Sources have told Atlas about the behavior of the detention center officers with Mr. Ramzanzadeh: > When Reza was being transferred, he was blindfolded, the guard of the Detention Center 2-A would grab the corner of Reza's clothes with his fingertip and say, "You are a piece of impurity (Islamic term, Najis) and I should not dirty my hands. </coverage-outsourcing>

He was also summoned to Evin court three times but his arraignment was not done in accordance with the law; meaning investigator Ghanaatkarand other authorities including Mohammad Mehdi Baraeh at the sentence enforcement office and Amin Vaziri, assistant prosecutor, only presented the charges and refused to offer any basis or evidence for those charges. The court accused him of destruction and arson of public property and disrupting public order, but no basis or evidence was offered for them. During the interrogations, Mr. Ramezanzadeh realized that his phone messages to his friends were used to identify him; but his messages had nothing of importance in them and they were merely about describing the condition of protests or his own location. According to IPA sources, the security forces were listening to his family's phone calls a few days before his arrest. </coverage-outsourcing>
  • <coverage-outsourcing id='37378'> After three days of detention in ward 241, he was initially transferred to the Revolutionary Court to appear in the hearing and then to Greater Tehran Prison. According to sources, Reza Ramezanzadeh was present in the court for 30 seconds and Judge Amouzad, head of Branch 24, told him: > Sign the defense bill (which was prepared in advance) and leave the room. Relatives of Mr. Ramezanzadeh told Atlas about the change of charges: > They did not have any evidence regarding the previous charges, which seems to have allowed the judge to issue an illegal sentence.
