Baktash Abtin

Baktash Abtin is a poet, filmmaker, and member of the Iranian Writers' Association. He was sentenced to prison for "Assembly and collusion against national security.” Baktash Abtin died on January 8, 2022. His death was due to coronavirus in prison and the deliberate negligence of the authorities.

On December 13th, Abtin's half-dead body was transferred to another hospital, and the treatment of his serious condition began. The severity of the illness forced doctors to put him to artificial sleep on January 1 so that they might be able to save him from the imposed gradual death.
