He is one of the eight inmates involved in the case known as "Facebook Activists" , who were sentenced to a total of 127 years in prison. The defendant's family were unaware of the reason for his arrest and where he was held for a period of time. He spent the first month of his incarceration being interrogated in Ward 2A of Evin Prison and was later transferred to Ward 350. He was charged with "Assembly and collusion against national security" and tried in Branch 6 of Evin Court, presided by Investigative Judge Amin Naseri.
