Hossein, a professional rock climber, was kidnapped and endured extreme torture to confess to false charges. His family worries deeply about his mental and physical condition.

  • # Arrest Hossein was kidnapped by IRGC agents in Tehran. Reportedly, his family was given no information about his whereabouts or reasons for his arrest. He contacted his family several days after being detained. Based on his statement to his family, he said that he was severely tortured and forced to confess to unsubstantiated crimes. ## Imprisonment and Torture Apparently, Hossein was unwilling to meet his family due to the severity of his torture, as he did not want his family to be worried, subsequently raising even more concern for his physical and mental condition. On 8 November, he was transferred to Evin prison. Since then, his family's attempts at obtaining information about him have been unsuccessful. ## Family Statements Hossein's sister grew increasingly worried about his mental condition after visiting him for a few minutes in prison. She stated that he was unable to function normally such as speaking or expressing himself, a possible side-effect of torture. ## Court Case His sister confirmed that Hossein was not able to select a lawyer. He was charged with "Membership and collusion to commit crimes against internal and external security" and "Disruption of public order and comfort".
