Borhan Esmaili, Dorna Esmaili, Maryam Bashir, Minou Bashir, Faranak Shaikhi, and Hayedeh Ram were sentenced to prison and fines by the revolutionary court of Dashtestan county presided by counselor Alireza Kiani. According to HRANA, Borhan Esmaili was sentenced to one year in prison for propaganda against the state through “promoting the Baha’i cult’s beliefs” and ten years in prison for founding or managing an illegal entity through “spreading and promoting the Baha'i cult’s ideas.” HRANA reported that Maryam Bashir, Minou Bashir, Dorna Esmaili, Faranak Shaikhi, and Hayedeh Ram were sentenced to six months in prison for propaganda against the state through “promoting the Baha’i cult’s beliefs”, and two years in prison and 100 million rials in fines for “producing and publishing vulgar videos online and on social media”, and 10 years in prison for founding or managing an illegal group through “spreading and promoting the Baha'i cult ideas”. The report states that all the documents related to the Baha'i faith found during the search of the house by the IRGC forces were confiscated. Based on the indictment published by HRANA, “activities directed at education and development of children” and “membership of the adverse and anti-revolutionary Facebook website” are counted as instances of crime for those sentences. The indictment also refers to the application of article 134 and the maximum penalty of 10 years.

The sentence of Borhan Esmaili was approved verbatim by the fourth branch of the appeal court of Bushehr province presided by Hedayat Rahavi with Khalil Abdollahi as councilor. Dorna Esmaili, Maryam Bashir, Minou Bashir, Faranak Shaikhi, and Hayedeh Ram were all sentenced to 10 years and nine months and one day in prison for propaganda against the state, attempts against national security, and “producing and publishing vulgar videos online and on social media”. The “attempt against national security” is likely a reporting mistake and it might refer to article 498 of the Islamic Penal Code which was the basis for the verdict of 10 years in prison in the preliminary court. In the HRANA report, the punishments for each charge were not separated, but it seems that by applying article 134 of the IPC, the enforceable sentence will be 10 years in prison. The report also mentions that the belongings of these citizens including documents, texts, books, pictures, videos, and CDs related to the Baha'i faith were all confiscated by the IRGC intelligence forces in Bushehr.
