Shahin Naseri
SHahin Naseri was persecuted by security and judiciary forces for testifying about the physical torture of Navid Afkari. He repeatedly described the methods of torture that Navid Afkari had gone through. Mr. Naseri mysteriously died in Greater Tehran Prison in September 2021. He was born in 1972 in Shahrud.
Shahin Naseri was repeatedly threatened for exposing the torture of Navid Afkari. For example, after hearing Mr. Naseri's testimony, the investigator for the case of Navid Afkari's complaint against police agents told him: "You are intervening in a security case. I'll ruin you. I'll make these agents sue you for defamation. I'll melt you." Shahin Naseri was arrested at the same time as Navid Afkari on general charges. The reason we created a profile for him here is his efforts toward seeking justice for a political prisoner and his systemic persecution by the judiciary and the security apparatus. His profile starts on the date that his audio file was released, in which he talks about the torture and abuse of Navid Afkari. There are signs that he was tortured and abused after exposing the case of Navid Afkari, but IPA does not have any solid document to prove that. Therefore the violations recorded in the statistics section contradict the truth of what happened to Shahin Naseri. IPA will update his case with more information. <symbol-timeline></symbol-timeline>
