- # Arrest In June 2020, after going to the Court of Appeal in Tehran and receiving her verdict, which confirmed her previous sentence, Soheila was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents and transferred to Qarchak Varamin prison. ## Court Case After 8 months in prison, she was temporarily released on a hefty bail. Subsequently, on 23 May 2020 she was summoned to the Tehran Revolutionary Court and conveyed an 18 years prison sentence with 5 years of mandatory prison time. Soheila was convicted of several charges including "Colluding against National Security", "Propaganda against the Regime", "Disrupting public order and creating chaos", "Calling for referendum to change the constitution", and "forming a women's rights group". ## Imprisonment It is reported that after her appeal hearing, she was attacked and severely beaten by IRGC agents and was immediately transferred to Qarchak prison. While incarcerated she contracted Covid-19 and was denied medical treatment despite her poor physical condition. Additionally, she was not allowed to contact her family. Moreover, she went on multiple hunger strikes. ## Mahsa Amini Protest Support During the Mahsa Amini uprising, Soheila managed to release an audio file stating her support for the protesters. Consequently, she was severely beaten by IRGC agents in prison and reportedly suffered serious injuries to her legs and back. While physically unwell, she was moved to Kermanshah's judiciary court in a wheelchair to receive additional sentencing based on new accusations and allegations. Even behind bars, Soheila has continually voiced her support for the people.
