According to Voice of America, a released inmate stated that the doors to Wards 5 and 6 were shut without explanation, and access to facilities such as the infirmary, commissary, kitchen, gym, and workshops was entirely cut off for several days. The report further notes that a hunger strike by Farzaneh Ghareh-Hasanlou, Fahimeh Tashakkori, Aghrin Sedighi, and Zahra Kohnehkar, in protest of the lack of outdoor time and poor bathing conditions, prompted the prison warden, Hadi Esmaeilzadegan, to promise a review of their demands.
