Iranian Judiciary’s spokesperson confirmed the arrest of a number of Australian citizens. Without mentioning their names, Iran has claimed that Mark Firkin and Jolie King, an Australian couple, were arrested because they “had taken pictures from forbidden sites”. It has been further explained that they used drones to take pictures. Jolie King, a British-Australian, and Mark Firkin, an Australian, are known for their bloggings on social issues. They started their travels around the world in 2017 and share their experiences on social media. The Australian government is following up on them but it hasn’t led to any results so far

Marise Payne, Australia’s foreign minister, said the couple had been released and returned to Australia. Many news outlets said an Iranian prisoner had been released at the same time and sent to Iran from Australia. EuroNews wrote: “Reza Dehbashi Kivi had purchased advanced military radar equipment and sent it to Iran via Dubai. The radars were used for missile identification and following up on radar-escaping fighters”
