Reza Norouzi

Reza Norouzi is from Sarab in East Azerbaijan province. In May of 2021, he and his wife and two children started chanting against the Islamic Republic in Inqilab Square in Tehran and asked people to join the “No to the Islamic Republic” campaign. He has been sentenced to five years in prison.

According to Mr. Sadeghi, Reza Norouzi was severely battered in ward four during a fight with several financial prisoners and some prison guards and was taken to ward 240 for eight days as punishment. Arash Sadeghi added that Norouzi was arraigned at the first branch of the prosecutor’s office at Evin Prison for “disrupting prison order and insulting the authorities” and has been moved from ward four to ward eight. Mr. Sadeghi reported that after this incident, Reza Norouzi was denied work in the prison; due to his incarceration, his family is in severe financial need, and he works in prison to send money to his family. </reference> </coverage-outsourcing>
