Parviz Siyabi Garjan
.Parviz Siyabi Garjan is a law graduate and civil rights activist in Tabriz. Mr. Siyabi was arrested and sentenced to prison in relation to the protests on 24/07/2021 in Tabriz in support of the water-shortage protests in Khuzestan province.
After the call to protests from civil rights activists and parties opposing the Islamic Republic in Azerbaijan province, Tabriz city witnessed mass protests in support of the water-shortage protests in Khuzestan province. During the protests, dozens of citizens were arrested in Tabriz, Ardebil, Urmia, Nasim Shahr, Bostan Abad, and Sefidan Jadid, and some were sentenced to prison, flogging, and cash fines. <symbol-timeline></symbol-timeline>

According to the issued judgment, Judge Taher Rasouli, presiding over the 102nd branch of the criminal court of Ardebil sentenced the 12 arrested citizens to seven months and 16 days in prison and 74 lashes for disrupting public order in accordance with article 618 of the IPC; plus seven months and 16 days in prison for disobeying law enforcement officers in accordance with article 607 of the IPC. By applying article 134 of the IPC for reducing sentences, each of these individuals will receive seven months and 16 days in prison and 74 lashes. The judgment also states that the prison sentences of seven of the accused in this case, namely Hamed Heidary, Hossein Balakhani, Mohammad Jolani, Sajjad Jolani, Bahman Kheirjoo, Sobhan Bakhshi, and Parviz Siyabi Garjan, will be commuted to house arrest using electronic ankle monitor in Ardebil city. The court has suspended the sentences of Hossein Balakhani, Mohamad Jolani, and Sajjad Jolani; also, the flogging and half of the prison sentence of Parvi Siyabi Garjan have been suspended due to old age, and the court has sentenced all four prisoners to fours years in prison each. The ruling states that the old age of Parviz Siyabi Garjan and the blindness of Sajjad Jolani were the reasons for suspended sentences.
