The court, relying on certain provisions of Islamic law, has decreased the maximum punishment by relying on Article 134 of the Civil Code. According to this report, the 103rd branch of the Tabriz Criminal court, presided over by Judge Vatankhah, has sentenced Ali Kamrani, Mehdi Haghparast, Amir Dehghan, Sefidan Jadid, Roya Saghiri Saray, Rahim Tatarpour, Kamel Soveiti, and Mohammad Shetabifard each to one year ‘suspended’ imprisonment for “disturbing public order”. The court noted Roya Saghiri’s street protest against Hijab as one of the charges against her.
