Mahsa Amini
Mahsa (Zhina) Amini was born in September 2000 in Saqez. She was arrested by the morality police during a family trip to Tehran. According to witnesses and evidence, police forces heavily assaulted her after the arrest. She died three days later in Kasra Hospital in Tehran. Her murder became a trigger for the widespread uprising in Iran.

The police would not respond to the families, but the girls coming out of the building said: > They killed someone . Families concerned about their loved ones rushed the enterance to see what has happened. The police forces attacked them with teargas and batons. Kiarash Amini told IranWire that his body has been bruised and his eyes are burning as a result. Minutes later, an ambulance left the building without anyone telling him anything. He was still waiting for his sister in front of the police station. About half an hour later, he started shwoing Mahsa's photo to the girls coming out of the building, and one confirmed that it was her who passed out and was taken to hospital. Kiarash Amini then goes to Kasra hospital, where the doctors tell him Mahsa Amini has suffered a heart attack and a brain hemorrhage. Also women attending the funeral removed their hijabs and started chanting in Kurdish against hijab, which translates to: > Death for a scarf, how long [should ve tolerate] this misery. During the protests the state forces cracked down on protesters and several people were shot in the first few hours. A photo was released of a young man who was shot in the head lying in his own blood on the ground. The family has denied all these claims and her father said that in her 22 years, she has only visited clinics for common cold.
