Mehdi Kazemi is an Iranian-Austrian citizen. He was arrested during the 2022 uprising.

In this report, IranWire quoted Mehdi Kazemi and wrote that interrogators called his American wife an intelligence officer and accused Mehdi Kazemi of being a spy and pressured him to bring his wife to Iran. Mehdi Kazemi told IranWire in this interview that he was sentenced to 16 years in prison and left Iran legally sometime after his release from detention.
