He is one of the Arab citizens who was sentenced to prison for the charge of “warring against God”. Press TV, the English language station of the regime in Iran, also, broadcast a film of his confessions. According to reports, he and others charged in the case were severely tortured

When the families entered the mosque they realized they were being filmed. They were told that if they agree to being filmed when their children are giving television confessions, their children’s punishment will be reduced. The families were unaware that their film would be broadcast from the official state television of Iran. Among these families Ali Chabishat’s family refused to be filmed, but a few months later the Intelligence ministry contacted them and asked them to allow filming if they wanted to avoid their son’s execution. On November 2013, two official TV stations in Iran broadcasted a documentary, “lost in darkness” showing the ‘confessions’ of Ali Chabishat, Khaled Mousavi, and Salman Chayani along with images of their families.
