Navid, the champion Iranian wrestler and protester of the August 2017 protests, was convicted and eventually executed for participating in the protests in Shiraz.

He was convicted on trumped-up charges including fighting and killing a security officer and other charges. The sentence for him was two executions, six years and six months of imprisonment and 74 lashes. On 12 September 2020, he was suddenly executed without being able to meet his family.
- According to a published audio file of Navid's last conversation with his brother, before the execution, Navid announced that he was going to be transferred to another prison and that he was relieved that the matter would "be resolved". He did not know about the execution and lived in normal conditions, but the next morning the judiciary announced the news of his imminent execution.
