Fardin Advaei
A mass arrest of Kurdish civil activists started from around late December 2020. In about a month, more than 100 Kurdish citizens were arrested in at least 15 cities. In many cases, the arrests happened without a judicial order, the houses were searched, security authorities showed violence and there was no news available on the whereabouts of those arrested for long periods. Some of those arrested have had no phone calls with their families and those who were able to call were barred from speaking in their mother tongue. <symbol-timeline></symbol-timeline>
